In Case of Emergency -CASH IS KING!

Monday, July 26, 2010 7:12:08 AM EDT

Talk to anyone who has endured the most common of all emergencies, the power disruption, about their ability to
function in a society where credit cards and ATM's don’t work. Imagine being without the ability to shop for
food or transportation because you ran out of cash. Having a reasonable amount of cash tucked away in your Ice-Qube Emergency Kit is the smart thing to do.

Every Ice-Qube comes with a heavy duty waterproof documents pouch and ICE Emergency Planner. Spending a few minutes organizing your families most important information can be a tremendous asset in an emergency.  Take a moment to fill in your families Social Security numbers, insurance policy and contact information. Add prescriptions, medications, an extra pair of eyelasses and some cash.  The amount of cash you put aside is up to you, but having some cash on hand may be equally as important as all your other stash combined.

Hurricane Season Begins

Thursday, July 1, 2010 1:40:49 PM EDT

It's Official. Alex is a Hurricane.

For all my weather junkie friends, you must love watching the path for this storm. Dangerous and potent, this storm promises to raise additional havoc by interrupting  clean-up efforts in the Gulf. It's like watching a slow motion disaster film. If you had any illusion, about how in case of emergency, there would be a local governmental system to assist you, you may want to think again.

Self reliance is a a critical component of effective emergency preparedness. Simple steps to prepare will save lives and property in this storm, and any other. Hurricane Season is just beginning. Are You Ready?

Ice-Qube Baby, Second Generation

Tuesday, June 15, 2010 10:42:43 AM EDT

Was so excited to see the new second generation Ice-Qube Baby Box, felt like a new birth. This new packaging addressed many of the problems that plagued us with the first product like What is an Ice-Qube? Who is it for? And my favorite, why do I need it?

This new packaging solves all those problems with brilliant graphics, photos and honed text and explains why the Ice-Qube Baby is the ideal baby gift every new parent, grandma, babysitter, shower and registry for all of life’s emergencies, big and small.

We found a baby face shield which coupled with the mylar blanket and first aid, really beefs up the emergency component, while the other products for feeding, cleaning, washing, diapering and the most adorable unisex onesie in Ice-Qube orange function, in case of emergency or just in case. The peace of mind that comes from knowing your baby is prepared for any emergency is the ultimate gift.

I am so excited about the test a certain national chain is running in September for National Preparedness Month.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to talk to customers about the serious importance of preparing your home and family in case of emergency and how Ice-Qube Baby makes it easy.

Hats off to the Steve Reisig of Real Imagination and Lauren Nichols of 3G Warehouse. Here are words they have never heard me say, I love it!  Best of luck to Lauren Reisig who is completing today in the National History Finals in Washington, D.C. We are proud of you already.

Memorial Day Daydreams

Tuesday, June 1, 2010 7:57:58 AM EDT

Spent a luxurious Memorial Day weekend puttering in my garden which I have nicknamed Eden. The roses and peonies were in full bloom, the weather superb, my husband kids were around, my trusty maltese Gus at my side and all felt good in the world, until the first military helicopter flew over my house. I heard it coming, because it was so clearly different from the other planes that are always somewhere in the distance headed to JFK or LaGuardia. The tone was deep and it was clear something was flying low. Funny how you hear something, turn towards it in time to see it coming and watch it roll by. I figured it was for some Memorial Day celebration somewhere and returned to my potting table when the second one flew overhead. Then I ran through the mental exercise of what if?

What if something were wrong and I had to gather my flock in the house, just like I tell everyone else to do. Was I ready for an emergency?

I have several Luxe Ice-Qubes in my basement, with ample products for more than 10 people but where was my Ice-Qube Dog? I had just taken it out to show someone and may have left it at the warehouse. Oh no! That panic and worry would have been alleviated had I just put the Ice-Qube Dog back where it belongs. Where I can count on it being. That's what proper emergency preparedness means. Knowing that you have what you need, if you need it.

Of course, there was no emergency. The weekend was a majestic perfect holiday weekend, but reality is never far from our thoughts.  I went and added fresh food and treats to my Ice-Qube Dog and added it back to my collection of Ice-Qubes in my 'safe' place in the basement.  Knowing that I had what I needed, if I needed it,  it was a wonderful feeling and sent me back to the garden with a smile.
