So FEMA is looking for folks to recognize… “The American spirit is steeped in an appreciation for individual contribution and the guiding principle of helping others. FEMA would like to recognize individuals who have made a difference in making their community safer and better prepared.” – I am honored and I haven’t even been nominated.
Last year, we at Ice-Qube honored several model citizens for their efforts to ready the community with the Ice-Qubey Good Citizen Awards and plan to do the same this year on Long Island honoring Nassau Country District Attorney Kathleen Rice and London Jewelers Owner Candy Udell for their respective good work to make our communities safer.
I am delighted that the full force of FEMA thinks the enterprise I have been engaged in, is so important they want to highlight the achievement of people like me, who believe that each of us has a role to play in making our communities safer. The emerging awareness of the need to prepare our homes, businesses and cars for an unexpected event requires a groundswell response.
Whether or not I am selected, I’ve already won! My passion for motivating others to prepare is gaining speed, with affirmations from FEMA and the bloody hardcore reality that life happens, citizens all over America are stepping up and committing to readying their homes for an emergency. That is our goal, a safer home, community and country and at ice-qube we are honored to have the chance to make that easy for people every day.
