For years I have been trying to cultivate a business presence that doesn’t actually require my presence… so it was with great reluctance that I wrote a media alert for local tv media offering myself to appear in front of the camera. How I love the ability to edit, gives me such a comfort. TV is flying with no net, and for a preparedness freak like me who always likes a backup, a challenge, but, we are ready and I am ready. Our new Ice-Qube Baby boxes are in production and we will be shipping our first orders shortly. The product is gorgeous, well priced and value laden. I am thrilled and proud to put myself out in front of it.
With no publicist or PR master by my side, I am flying solo.
Dear TV Segment Producer:
September is National Preparedness Month. You will to be asked to help spread the message from FEMA and Homeland Security that preparing for an emergency is a national imperative. This is all the more important because people are not prepared. Less than 50% of people identify themselves as prepared, only 17% as well prepared. Emergency preparedness can be difficult to deal with; anxiety provoking, messy, disorganizing and time consuming. Most people put home emergency preparedness at the bottom of their to-do list, when it should be on top.
I am the founder of a small emergency kit company on Long Island where we make emergency preparedness easy. I developed a product for my family and friends that we now sell around the world. We call our emergency kits,
Ice-Qubes, named for the universal emergency term, ICE for In Case of Emergency. Beginning in September the Ice-Qube Baby will be at available at buybuy Baby and babiesrus.com as well as our website at www.ice-qube.com.
I have been on a one woman crusade since 2006 to motivate and inspire people to prepare In Case of Emergency –read my blog at www.ice-qube.com/blog, or my tweets at icequbes. We have tons of press www.ice-qube.com/press and I appear in the ReadyNY video which you can view on our site or their, as a safety preparedness expert.
To celebrate National Preparedness Month and to do my duty to spread the gospel of preparedness, I am offering myself as a preparedness guest for a segment on this important topic of emergency preparedness. I hope you will consider inviting me to appear on your show.
I have developed 10 Easy Tips for Making Every Home Safer including tips for babies, seniors and pets as well as some no cost preparedness tips. I explain how to meet government guidelines for proper emergency preparedness with ease and provide simple tips and tools for creating an emergency plan for every home.
Making emergency preparedness compelling is the challenge for those of us working daily to foment a revolution. Think, smoke detectors 20 years ago, no one had one, now they are ubiquitous. Preparedness is the new green. I can make this interesting and fun, with a lively 3 minute discussion on the virtues and best practices for effective and easy emergency preparedness.
If you are interested, let me know. I can provide the 10 top tips in advance. If this is not your thing but know someone else who might be interested, please pass it along.
Sincerely,
Leslie Fastenberg
